The Salar de Uyuni is lately one of the most spectacular adventure destinations of our Earth, with more than 10,000 million tons of salt that extend through an endless desert. The Salar de Uyuni has an extension of 10,582 square kilometers of white salt, this was the inheritance of the ancient salt lake called Coipasa that dried up thousands of years ago.

Salar de Uyuni is the largest in the world and is at an altitude of 3,656 meters above sea level.

Full Itinerary

Day 1 – Uyuni Salt Flat

We will start the tour at 10.30 am from the office in the city of Uyuni. Normally our clients arrive from the city of La Paz very early, we can also pick them up from their arrival and recommend a restaurant for breakfast.
The first stop will be the famous abandoned train cemetery, it was a very important means of transportation in Bolivia in the 80’s decade. Later we will visit the town of Colchani where we can buy souvenirs and handicrafts either salt or looms at affordable prices.

The next destination will be the Plaza de las Banderas, here there are more than a hundred flags of different countries of the world, and there is also the monument to the DAKAR after the photographs we will visit the first hotel built with salt.

After lunch we will visit the center of the salt flat to take instagramable pictures with the reflections and perspectives that are seen in the publications, of course this will depend on the season.

Later we move to Incahuasi Island. Here we will find coral fossils, giant cactus and we can observe the Tunupa volcano.

Later we will enjoy the sunset on the pink horizon of the salt flat and then rest to our lodging in the salt flat.

Day 2 – Tunupa Volcano

The day will begin with a delicious breakfast, then we will depart to the Tunupa volcano, which is considered a sacred mountain for the indigenous communities. Then we will visit the Coquesa Cave where we will find some mummies of the Aymara culture that are naturally preserved. After lunch, we return to the city of Uyuni arriving at approximately 18:00 hours.
