Our boat will be waiting for us to take us 25 minutes up the Tambopata river until we arrive to our Lodge, we will have good chances of spotting capybaras and many shore birds along the river bank, arriving at the lodge we will be received with a welcome drink and then we will be explained everything we need to know about the lodge and its surroundings.
After lunch we will take an introductory walk, first in a secondary forest and then in a primary forest full of huge trees, vines and creepers, at the same time we will talk about the most important economic activities in this region. Chances to see some brown capuchin monkeys and squirrel monkeys are always possible. At the end of the hike, we will climb the highest Canopy TOWER in Tambopata, a great place to see the Amazon basin, the sunset and the sunset is the best part from here.
When it gets dark we will return to our lodge and take our boat and do one of the most exciting activities which is CAIMAN spotting, we will look for white and black caimans along the river bank with a big lamp, we might see more CAPYBARAS and if there is a good chance we will see an OCELOT or a JAGUAR by the river as well.

Day 2.- Collpa Chuncho MACAWS – Lodge Tambopata River.
We will wake up around 5:00 a.m., have hot drinks to recover energy and get on our boat to go up the Tambopata River for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the check point. We will have the whole sunrise just for us in the boat, and we will have a very good chance of spotting shorebirds, capybaras, white caimans, and why not to mention a jaguar, we have a 20% chance of seeing one of these animals on the river bank.
Arriving at our destination, we will have a show in the COLLPA CHUNCHO, we will see parrots and macaws: green, red, blue and yellow birds around us, flying and making loud noises, it will be a spectacle this behavior of these birds. We explain the reason why every day of the year these birds go to the cliff to eat clay. We will spend from 6:30 am to 11:00 am approx. Our breakfast will be in front of the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick.

DAY 3.- Sandoval Lake.
5:30 a.m. we will take our boat for 20 minutes and then 2 hours back to Puerto Maldonado by car, we will have breakfast at Tambopata Hostel and more then we will continue with the excursion, we will walk five minutes to the river dock. Madre de Dios” where our boat and driver will take us down river, after one hour on the river we will arrive at the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. After checking in at the control point, we will walk for about an hour along a trail to reach a channel that connects to the Sandoval Lake. We will then travel by canoe, paddling around the lake and making the most of our time in the area along the shore of this beautiful lake, full of wildlife: amazing insects, small and large birds, exotic and colorful.
There is also a family of giant river otters living in Sandoval Lake. There are very few of them left in Brazil, Bolivia and Peru and this is one of the few places where we can observe a group of them, almost always looking for fish to eat. According to statistics, there is a 60 percent chance of seeing them during a one-day visit to the lake. We also have the opportunity to observe black caimans that live in the lake. Although nighttime is the ideal time to observe them when they are most active, they can also be found during the day.
We will continue to the house of a local family that lives inside the reserve. We will be welcomed with a delicious lunch, a traditional meal prepared wrapped in a jungle leaf to seal in the flavor, accompanied by a typical drink. Then, after resting, we can return to Puerto Maldonado.
