Salar Uyuni 3 Days

Our adventure begins at 10:30 a.m. in Uyuni, where we board our 4×4 vehicles. Our first stop is the fascinating Train Cemetery, where old 19th-century locomotives create a surreal landscape.

We continue to Colchani, the salt artisans’ village. Here, you’ll learn how salt is processed manually and have the chance to buy salt souvenirs made entirely from this mineral. We’ll visit an artisan factory to see the whole process.

Next, we’ll visit the famous Salt Hotel, where we’ll take our first optical illusion photos against the infinite white horizon. In the afternoon, we explore Incahuasi Island, an oasis in the middle of the salt flat covered in giant cacti up to 12 meters tall. From its natural viewpoint, we’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views.

The day ends with a sunset photo session, as the sky’s colors are magically reflected in the salt flat (especially during the rainy season). We will overnight in a salt hotel with full amenities and a private bathroom.

We’ll wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the salt flat, a light show worth capturing. After breakfast, we’ll begin our journey south into the Bolivian Altiplano.

Our first stop is the Ollagüe Volcano, an impressive active volcano on the border with Chile. We’ll continue to the Andean lagoons, where we’ll see colonies of pink flamingos in their natural habitat, especially at the Canapa and Hedionda Lagoons.

At midday, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch by these color-changing lagoons. In the afternoon, we explore the Siloli Desert, famous for its wind-carved rock formations, including the iconic Stone Tree, a unique volcanic formation.

The day ends at the spectacular Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada), where reddish waters (caused by microscopic algae) create a stunning contrast with the desert landscape. We’ll spend the night in a comfortable lodge with full amenities.

We’ll wake up before dawn (around 5:30 am) to head to the Sol de Mañana Geysers, located at an altitude of 4,900 meters. You’ll witness sulfur fumaroles and boiling mud pools in an impressive geothermal spectacle.

After this experience, we’ll relax in the warm Polques Hot Springs, an oasis in the cold highlands (don’t forget your swimsuit). We then continue to the Green Lagoon, whose emerald waters (caused by arsenic minerals) contrast with the towering Licancabur Volcano.

At noon we’ll enjoy our final lunch in San Juan before heading back to Uyuni, where we’ll arrive around 5:00 pm. For those continuing their journey to Chile, we offer an option for direct transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.
