Pantanal Jaguar Safaris 8 days Photo Tour

Tour departure time: 9 a.m. We recommend that passengers arrive in Cuiaba (Várzea Grande) one day before the tour.

We will start a trip of approximately 100 km, which will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the city of Poconé. This will be the first step into the magic of the Pantanal.

From Poconé, we will enter the Pantanal via the famous Transpantaneira highway, a dirt road that crosses this vast flooded plain. This road is very special because, as we progress, we will be able to closely observe the natural wealth of this ecosystem. The road is full of wooden bridges that cross lagoons and rivers where hundreds of animal species reside. Along the way, we will make several strategic stops to observe and photograph the amazing local fauna. With a bit of luck, you may spot:

• Capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, resting near the water.
• Caimans and anacondas, hidden in the wetlands and rivers.
• Tapirs and swamp deer, two of the most iconic residents of the region.
• Macaws, toucan, and the majestic jabiru stork, the symbol of the Pantanal.

At the end of the journey, we will arrive at our cozy lodge in Porto Jofre, where you will be welcomed with a delicious welcome dinner. Get ready for the days of exploration ahead, as the true magic of the Pantanal is just beginning.

Over the next four days, you will experience an unforgettable adventure in the Brazilian Pantanal, exploring one of the best places in the world for jaguar sightings in their natural habitat. Here, in Jaguarlandia, jaguars reign over the jungle and rivers, and you will have the unique opportunity to observe them up close in the wild.

Each morning, our jaguar safari will begin early, at 7:00 a.m., when these felines are most active. We will board specialized boats and navigate the Cuiabá, Três Irmãos, and Piquiri rivers, where jaguars often roam in search of prey. This exciting journey will continue until sunset, allowing you to witness the incredible biodiversity of the region.

Our main goal will be to track the jaguars and observe their behavior in the wild. You will have the opportunity to see and photograph breathtaking scenes: jaguars stalking unsuspecting caimans and capybaras, pairs of jaguars during mating season, and, with a bit of luck, a mother jaguar protecting and teaching her cubs. Imagine the exact moment when a jaguar, with extraordinary agility and strength, leaps from a tree with pinpoint accuracy to capture a caiman. An image worthy of a documentary that will be etched in your memory forever.

At noon, we will return to our lodge in Porto Jofre, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch and a brief rest before continuing our expedition. In the afternoon, we will explore the Encontro das Águas State Park, known as Jaguarlandia, a natural sanctuary home to the world’s largest concentration of jaguars.

These days will be filled with discoveries, excitement, and unique moments where nature will surprise you at every turn.

Upon arriving at the Pousada Pouso Alegre Lodge, we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch before embarking on a new safari within the vast territory of the ranch. This protected environment is a true natural sanctuary for wildlife, home to a great diversity of species.

As night falls, we will prepare for one of the most exciting experiences of the trip: a night safari. With the help of flashlights and expert guides, we will explore the jungle in search of nocturnal creatures such as the mysterious ocelot, the stealthy tapir, and the bright eyes of caimans reflecting in the darkness.

This day will be a unique opportunity to continue discovering the natural wealth of the Pantanal from two different perspectives: the daylight and the magical world of the Pantanal’s nocturnal wildlife.

At dawn, we will wake up surrounded by the stunning beauty of the North Pantanal, in the heart of one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. We will stay at the Pousada Pouso Alegre Lodge, a natural haven that spans more than 8,000 hectares of unexplored landscapes. This place is much more than just accommodation; it is a wildlife sanctuary, where nature remains in its purest and most authentic state.

Thanks to its privileged location, the Pousada Pouso Alegre is one of the best places for wildlife observation in the Pantanal. During the day, we will embark on safaris and guided walks with expert naturalists who will help us discover the diversity of species inhabiting this unique ecosystem.

In our exploration, we will have the opportunity to get up close to some of the most iconic creatures of the Pantanal. With some luck, we could encounter large groups of capybaras, the adorable giant rodents that live near the water, or caimans and anacondas, resting patiently among the vegetation. After breakfast, we will say goodbye to Pousada Pouso Alegre Lodge and begin our journey back to Cuiabá. We will once again travel along the famous Transpantaneira highway, a route that will continue to surprise us with its breathtaking landscapes and wildlife in its purest form.

Along the way, we will make strategic stops to take advantage of the last opportunities for wildlife sightings. It will be common to encounter capybaras resting near the wetlands, caimans sunbathing on the riverbanks, or flocks of exotic birds soaring through the sky. Each stop will be a perfect opportunity to capture photos and take home one last memory of the Pantanal.
