Trek Llactapata + Machupicchu 3 Days

Our journey begins early at 5:00 a.m., when we depart from Cusco in a private transport. Our first stop will be at Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing our journey.

From here, we will embark on a 5-hour trip across the Andes mountain range, admiring breathtaking landscapes that range from snow-capped mountains to the high jungle, known as the cloud forest due to its humidity and mist. Along the way, we will pass through Abra Málaga, a high point on the route that offers spectacular views, and then descend to the village of Santa Teresa, where we will have lunch and rest before the hike.

In the afternoon, we will start a 3-hour hike to Llactapata, a small archaeological site that will offer us one of the most beautiful views of the entire trip. From here, we will be able to see Machu Picchu in the distance, along with the imposing Huayna Picchu Mountain and the mysterious Machu Picchu Mountain.

Just 10 minutes from this viewpoint, we will arrive at our lodge, a cozy place where we will spend the night facing one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. This will be a special moment to relax and connect with the Inca history before our big adventure at Machu Picchu.

We will wake up early to enjoy a nutritious breakfast while taking in the panoramic view of Machu Picchu from Llactapata. Then, we will begin our descent on a trail surrounded by vegetation until we reach a small village called Hidroeléctrica. Along the way, we will observe a wide variety of plants, birds, and streams, allowing us to enjoy the natural beauty of the high jungle.

In Hidroeléctrica, we will take a break for lunch and recharge our energy before continuing the hike. This second part of the journey will be more relaxed and mostly flat as we take the courses of the imposing Urubamba River, which will accompany us along the way. During the hike, we will pass at the foot of the Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains, admiring their grandeur from a different perspective.

After a few hours of hiking, we will arrive in the village of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. Here, we will settle into a comfortable hotel where we can rest, connect to Wi-Fi, and enjoy a private bath to relax after the hike.

In the evening, we will gather at a tourist restaurant to enjoy a delicious à la carte dinner, where we will be able to choose from various local and international food options. This will be the perfect moment to share experiences and prepare for the most anticipated day of the adventure: the visit to Machu Picchu.

We start the day with an important decision: to hike up to Machu Picchu or take the bus.

• Option 1: Hiking – This route takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, with a steep ascent via stone steps. It is well-marked, so a guide is not necessary for this part of the journey.
• Option 2: Bus – The bus ride takes 30 minutes and has an additional cost of $12 USD per person.

Both options will take us to the same entry point at Machu Picchu, where the guide will be waiting for us at the agreed time. The decision on how to ascend is usually made the night before, during dinner, in coordination with the guide.

Upon arrival at the entrance of Machu Picchu, we will go through the access controls, where presenting the original passport is mandatory. If you reserved access to Huayna Picchu Mountain ($65 USD per person, with reservations made up to 6 months in advance), you will also need to validate it at this moment.

Once inside, we will begin a guided tour of approximately 2 hours, where we will learn about the importance of Machu Picchu in Inca culture. We will explore temples, plazas, and structures that still amaze tourists, architects, and engineers for their location and the advanced construction techniques used.

At the end of the tour, you will have free time to take photographs or simply enjoy the magic of the place. Afterward, you will need to take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, and later the train back to Cusco, concluding this incredible adventure.
