Inca Trail + Sacred Valley 3 Days

After breakfast, we will begin our excursion through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, exploring some of its most iconic sites.

Our first stop will be in Chinchero, a picturesque Andean village known for its textile workshops and artisan markets. Here, local women will give us a demonstration of the traditional weaving process, showing how they obtain wool from sheep and alpacas, and how they create natural dyes using native herbs. We will also visit its archaeological site and the historic colonial church built on ancient Inca foundations.

We will continue to Moray, where we will observe the impressive circular terraces, an Inca agricultural laboratory used to experiment with crops at different altitudes. Then we’ll head to the Maras Salt Mines, a stunning complex of over 3,000 salt ponds that have been used since pre-Inca times and offer a unique landscape.

At midday, we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba, featuring a variety of traditional dishes from Peruvian cuisine. To end the day, we’ll explore the fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca cities, with its impressive terraces and stone temples.

We’ll spend the night in a hotel in Ollantaytambo, resting before the great adventure of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

After breakfast, we will head to the train station to travel to Km 104, the starting point of our hike on the legendary Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

Our first destination will be Chachabamba (2,250 m a.s.l.), an archaeological site that in Inca times served as a control post and religious center. From here, we will begin the ascent to Wiñayhuayna, one of the most impressive Inca complexes on the trail, where we will enjoy a guided tour to learn about its history and role within the empire.

Throughout the journey, we will pass through spectacular landscapes with panoramic views of the Urubamba River and the lush vegetation of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, home to incredible biodiversity.

After a Box Lunch meal, we will continue our hike to reach Intipunku (Sun Gate), the historic entrance to Machu Picchu for the Incas. From this point, we will have our first panoramic view of the citadel, an ideal moment to capture unique photographs as the sun illuminates the ancient ruins.

After a brief break, we will begin the descent to Machu Picchu, where we can admire the beauty of the site before continuing by bus to Aguas Calientes. Here we will stay at a hotel, and after dinner, we will coordinate with our guide the final details for our visit to Machu Picchu the next day.

Important:

To validate your entry to the Inca Trail, it is mandatory to present the original passport used in the tour booking. This will be verified at the Km 104 checkpoint. If the information does not match, the government has the authority to deny access and cancel your permit (Inca Trail + Machu Picchu), which could affect your trip.

We will get up very early to take the bus to Machu Picchu, a 25-minute ride to the entrance of the Inca citadel.

Upon arrival, we will go through a brief check before starting our guided tour, which lasts about 2 hours, exploring this World Wonder, visiting its sacred temples, ceremonial rooms, water fountains, agricultural terraces, and other iconic sectors. During the tour, our guide will share information about the architecture, history, and mysteries of this enigmatic lost city of the Incas.

After the tour, you will have free time to continue exploring Machu Picchu on your own, capture unforgettable photographs, or, if you wish, take the optional hike to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (subject to availability and with an additional ticket).

At the end of the visit, we will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. At the station, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco, concluding an unforgettable experience on the Inca Trail and at Machu Picchu.
