Machu Picchu + Sacred Valley 02 days

Chinchero (12,467 ft):

We begin at 5:30 a.m. with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. Our first stop will be the picturesque village of Chinchero, where local women will show you their ancient weaving techniques on looms. We will visit the colonial temple built on Inca foundations and explore the artisan market, ideal for purchasing authentic souvenirs.

Salineras de Maras:

We will descend to the salt mines of Maras, a labyrinth of 3,000 pink and white salt ponds carved into the mountain since the 15th century. You will learn how the community members extract salt from natural springs, a process that has persisted for generations.

Moray – Inca Agricultural Laboratory:

We will continue to Moray, a series of circular terraces that functioned as an agricultural experimentation center. The Incas used these concentric rings to simulate microclimates and grow over 250 varieties of potatoes and corn.

Ollantaytambo – Last Living Inca Town:

We will have lunch in the Sacred Valley (included) and tour Ollantaytambo, a village that preserves its original Inca urban layout. We will climb to its ceremonial fortress, where they resisted Spanish conquerors in 1536.

Train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town):

In the afternoon, we will board the Expedition train (around 7:00 p.m.) for a 1.5-hour journey along the Urubamba River. We will arrive at Aguas Calientes, where we will have dinner (included) and spend the night in a 3-star hotel with a private bathroom and WiFi.

Our second day begins with an exciting bus journey from Aguas Calientes to the majestic Machu Picchu citadel, one of the most important tourist destinations in Peru. The approximately 30-minute journey offers breathtaking views of the cloud forest as we ascend toward this modern wonder of the world.

Upon arrival, we will enjoy a comprehensive 2-hour guided tour through the most prominent areas of Machu Picchu. Our expert guide will show us the sacred temples, agricultural terraces, and urban structures that make this archaeological site unique. We will learn about the advanced Inca engineering and the mysteries surrounding this lost city.

After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace. This is the perfect moment to:

• Take spectacular photos of the ruins
• Walk along the less-traveled paths
• Admire the impressive Inca architecture
• Visit Huayna Picchu or the Machu Picchu Mountain (with prior reservation)

In the afternoon, we will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo. There, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to Cusco, thus concluding this unforgettable experience in the heart of the Inca Empire.
